Chambersburg 2, Hempfield 0: The Trojans picked up a quality non-league victory Saturday morning at Trojan Stadium by shutting out the Black Knights.
“I thought we played with a gritty edge today in really tough conditions,” Chambersburg coach Corey Grove said. “It was a much-needed result against a good team. We are battling some injuries and we had some boys step up today.”
Mario Wiesman scored a goal for teh Troans (5-3) on an assist by Adrian Olvera, while the second goal was an own goal off a defender of Hempfield (3-7-1). The Trojans led in shots (7-3) and corner kicks (4-2) and keeper Drew Cover made 2 saves.
Grove said, “Wiesman had possibly the goal of the year so far. The back line was solid, especially having two sophomores playing due to injuries. Izhais Jean and Elvis Lopez had a great second half, winning the majority of 50-50 balls in the midfield.”
