Southern Fulton advances to state semifinal

The Southern Fulton Indians (24-1) punched their ticket into the PIAA Final 4 with a 6-1 victory over West Middlesex Thursday afternoon at The First Commonwealth Bank Field in Homer City, Pa. 

Paul Hendershot pitched a gem for the Indians. The freshman ace surrendered only one run while scattering six hits over seven innings, striking out eight, and walking one.

Richie Preston was on the mound for West Middlesex Big Reds Varsity. The righthander surrendered three runs on three hits over four innings, striking out two.  Kyle Gilson and Gio Rococi entered the game as relief, throwing one and one-third innings and two-thirds of an inning respectively.

The Indians opened up  a close 3-1 game with three runs in the sixth inning.  The offensive onslaught by Southern Fulton Indians was led by Josh Morgan, Jett Burger, and Dane Harvey, who all drove

Senior Josh Morgan went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Southern Fulton Indians in hits.  Southern Fulton Indians didn’t commit a single error in the field.

The Indians will now take on Clarion Area in the State Semifinal at a location and time to be announced.
