District 3 released the official brackets for its softball championships on Friday and three local teams will be looking to win some medals.
In Class 6A, Chambersburg (18-2) received the No. 1 seed, which means it will have a bye in the first round. The Trojans will host a quarterfinal game at 4:30 on Thursday, May 25 at Norlo Park against the winner of No. 9 Hempfield (14-6) vs. No. 8 Wilson (14-5).
Should Chambersburg win, it would host a semifinal game on Tuesday, May 30. The top four teams in 6A qualify for the PIAA Tournament.
In Class 5A, Greencastle-Antrim (17-4), fresh off a Mid Penn championship, earned the No. 6 seed. The Blue Devils will face No. 11 Susquehannock (12-8) on Monday at home at 4:30. The winner will play a quarterfinal game against the winner of No. 3 South Western (18-1) vs. No. 14 Palmyra (11-8) on Thursday, May 25.
Also in 5A, Shippensburg enters as the No. 10 seed with a 12-8 record. The Greyhounds play Monday at No. 6 Exeter Township (13-7) at 4:30. The winner faces the winner of No. 2 Mechanicsburg (19-2) vs. No. 15 Elizabethtown (10-10) on May 25.
Class 5A semifinals will be held Tuesday, May 30 and the top four teams advance to the state tournament.
