Fannett-Metal (7-4) visited Forbes Road on Tuesday evening for an ICC match up and rolled to a 11-2 victory over the Cardinals.
The Tigers struck for one run in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead. Drew Goshorn reached on a single and stole second. He moved to third on a Jake Coffman ground out and scored on Landon Arnold’s sacrifice fly.
In the 3rd inning the Tigers erupted for 6 runs in the inning. Tucker Seibert singled to start the inning. Back to back walks to Goshorn and Coffman loaded the bases. Landon Arnold’s ground ball was misplayed allowing all three runs to score. Two more walks loaded the bases before Broc Hostler’s 3 run double to center cleared the bases for a 7-0 lead. The Cardinals scored one run in the bottom of the third to make it 7-1.
The Tigers added three more runs in 4th inning. Landon Arnold singled, stole second and scored on a Wade Appleby RBI double to the gap. Appleby scored on Adam Hammond’s RBI single. Hammond came around to score on Noah Naugle’s RBI single to right field to make it 10-1.
The 10-1 lead was more than enough run support for Tiger starter Drew Goshorn. Goshorn pitched four innings of scoreless ball. He had 10 strikeouts, allowed one walk and scattered three hits. Adam Hammond pitch two innings of relief and Tucker Seibert pitched the 7th inning.
Both teams added one run in the 6th inning for a final score of 11-2.
The Tigers visit Mcconnellsburg on Thursday evening at 6:00.
