Greencastle-Antrim 5, East Pennsboro 0: The Blue Devils got a four-hit shutout from Mackenzie Wingert to bounce back from their first loss of the season, beating the Panthers Friday afternoon in a non-league contest at Enola.
Wingert relied on her defense — she did not have a strikeout, but she completed the shutout with just one walk and 97 pitches.
For Greencastle (7-1), three runs in the fourth and two more in the fifth came against East Penn ace Jackie Capers.
Meadow Gambacurta was the only G-A player with two hits and she had one run driven in. Makayla Jerin and Wingert each had a hit and 2 RBIs.
Caroline Logsdon scored two runs and the Blue Devil batters struck out only 3 times against Capers.

Greencastle-Antrim 17, East Pennsboro 11: The Blue Devils had a powerful first inning, and weathered an 8-run fifth by the Panthers to collect a non-league home victory on Friday afternoon.
In the bottom of the first, G-A took a 6-0 lead on 3-run home runs from Aidan Grudzinski and Logan Shifflett.
They had expanded their lead to 13-3 in the fifth, but the Panthers struck for 8 runs and had runners at second and third and only one out. But reliever Jace Szaflarski struck out the next two batters to end the threat.
“What was great is that the next inning, they brought in their ace,” Greencastle coach Eric Shaner said. “We had the bases loaded and Briggs Remenick hit a shot up the middle for two RBIs and Carter Reid followed with another run-scoring hit.
“It would have been nice to get the 10-run win, but this could pay some dividends. It was awesome to jump out to the early lead, but we were looking shell-shocked (after the 5th). Then we showed a lot of character to score against their ace.”
For the Blue Devils (5-3), Grudzinski was 3-for-4 with 4 runs and 3 RBIs, and a double, triple and homer; Remenick was 2-for-4 with 4 runs batted in; Shifflett was 2-for-3 with 4 runs knocked in; Reid was 2-for-3 with 2 RBIs; Carter McCauley had 2 RBIs and Austin Wyant was 2-for-2.
