Fannett-Metal Moves to 3-0 With Victory Over Everett

F-M (3-0) hosted the Warriors on Tuesday evening in ICC matchup and  came away with a 16-9 victory.  

The Warriors scored one run  in the first to take an early lead, but the Tigers answered with eight runs in the bottom of the inning.  The first six batters reached base safely for the Tigers.  Adam Hammond and Landon Arnold had 2 run singles in the inning.  Drew Goshorn, Jake Coffman and Broc Hostler added RBI’s in the inning.  The Tigers added a run in the second inning to go ahead 9-1.  

Tigers pitching held the Warriors to one run until the wheels fells off in the 5th inning.  The Warriors plated seven runs on five walks and three hits to close the gap to 9-8.  

In the 6th inning, pitcher Drew Goshorn entered the game with the bases loaded and no outs.  Goshorn got the first hitter to hit a ground ball in the infield, but the Tigers dropped the ball at the plate to tie the game.  The next hitter into a double play and the 3rd out was popped up to the pitcher.  “Drew entered the game in a tough situation and did heckuva job to limit the damage to only one run”, Tiger Coach Paul Coffman said.  

The Tigers exploded for seven runs in the bottom of the inning.  Arnold led off with a single and stole second.  Wade Appleby walked.  Arnold scored on Adam Hammond’s RBI single and Appleby scored on Daxton Detweiler’s fielder choice.  Broc Hostler’s RBI single scored Hammond.  Logan Hall reached on a fielder’s choice.  Hostler scored on Tucker Seibert’s RBI single.  Pinch runner Colton Myers and Seibert scored on Drew Goshorn’s double to the gap.  Goshorn scored on Jake Coffman’s squeeze bunt.  Landon Arnold singled and the game was called at that point.  

Landon Arnold led the Tigers offense with 4 hits on the day.  Adam Hammond also had a pair of hits and 3RBI’s.  

Arnold started the game and pitched 3 innings.  He had 6 strikeouts, 3 walks and allowed 1 run.  Wade Appleby and Adam Hammond each threw 1 inning.  Drew Goshorn pitched the 6th inning and got the win.  

The Tigers visit Southern Fulton on Thursday at 4:30.
