Chambersburg (14-2) will now await the District 3 Team Championship pairings, which will be officially announced Sunday. The Trojans were seeded No. 5 before Saturday, but could possibly sneak into No. 4. If they’re No. 5, they would wrestle in a first-round 3A match Tuesday evening at Elco vs. the No. 12 seed. If they move to No. 4, they will host the first round Tuesday and face No. 13.

Aiden Hight was again involved in the feature match of the day, facing Ship’s Diesel Koser at 215. Both qualified for states a year ago, with Koser winning a PIAA consolation match.

This time, Hight picked up a 10-2 major decision. He had a takedown in each of the first two periods to lead 4-2, then escaped, scored another takedown and got back points.

Trojan coach Matt Mentzer said, “Aiden really controlled the pace and the match today. He had three takedowns, the last one a nice counter that ended up in a turks for five points.”

At 172, Jaccob Stoner trailed the Hounds’ John Gleason 4-2 after two, but tied it with a takedown, and won it, 7-4, with a nearfall. In another good match at 145, the Trojans’ Tyler Frye won his seventh match, 5-2, over Eddie Alcantara.

“Jaccob’s match was pretty even, but he got Gleason in a whizzer, and stepped over for the takedown and nearfall,” Mentzer said. “Tyler wrestled a smart match against a good opponent. He got takedowns in each of the first two periods, then kept out of trouble.”

Zach Evans (285), Ashton Romberger (133) and Quadir Williams (189) had pins for Chambersburg.

For Shippensburg (4-8), Dominic Frontino (160) and Kevin Foxworth (152) notched pins and Ayden Estep (139) rolled to a 15-4 major decision.
