Fannett-Metal wins over Everett

The Tigers traveled to Everett on Wednesday evening to take on the Warriors and came home with a solid 62-50 victory.  The Tigers and Warriors were tied 15-15 after the first quarter.  In the second quarter the Tigers took control of the game behind a great defensive effort.

“We created some problems for them defensively and that allowed us to build a nice halftime lead.  Offensively, we shared the ball well as five different played scored in the quarter”, Fannett-Metal Coach Paul Coffman said.

Having a halftime lead hasn’t been new for the Tigers as they have had a lead the last three games only to see it slip away.   But tonight, was different story as the Tigers weathered a second half run by the Warriors and still led 46-36 at the end of three quarters.

In the 4th, the young squad was patient on offense, attacked the basket for lay ups and got to the foul line to ice the victory.  “We didn’t hit the panic button tonight when the storm hit.  We stayed composed throughout and finished the job on the road ”, Coffman said.

Evan Wingert led the way with a game high 19 points and 6 rebounds.  Broc Hostler scored 13 points and had 4 steals. Drew Goshorn had a nice all-around game with 10 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and a pair of steals.  Riley Martin scored 9 points and had 8 rebounds and Landon Arnold had 7 points and 3 steals.  Daxton Detweiler chipped in 4 points and had 6 rebounds.  “Daxton gave us a big spark tonight at key moments in the game “, Coffman said.

The Tigers return home on Friday for a home contest against Southern Fulton.
