Big first half carries Greyhounds to 33-13 win over Waynesboro

Shippensburg edged one step closer the making the playoffs with a convincing 33-13 win over Waynesboro.  The Greyhounds posted two touchdowns each in the first and second quarters to lead 26-0 at the break.

​Shippensburg opening drive was highlighted by a Tucker Chamberlin 63 yard bomb to brother Troy Chamberlin down to the two.  Trae Kater capped it with a one yard power sweep to the left.  

​After a quick three and out for the Indians, Shippensburg went on a 10 play 87 yard drive.  Kater had runs of 18 and 13 to pick-up first downs, but Erby Weller’s run for 10 off a fake punt kept the drive alive.  On third and 17 Chamberlin hit Kater for a 43 yard bomb and a 13-0 lead.

​In the second Amari Kerr on sweep went 38 yards on fourth down for the score.  Kater ended the first half scoring with a 95 yard interception return (his third pick six of the year).  The ball went off the receivers hands, Kater tipped it in the air and then hauled it in at the five and took off up the far sideline.  Kater made a couple of moves to make a couple defenders miss and broke a tackle inside the five for the score.  Shippensburg outgained the Indians 265-92 in the first half.

​The only scoring in the third was by Waynesboro as Mikel Holden scooped up a fumble and returned it 20 yards for the score.

​The Hounds answered in the fourth after Everson Weller recovered an Indian fumble.  Kerr capped off the short drive with an 11 yard run.  

​The Indians finally got it going on offense with a 7 play 68 yard drive.  The highlight was Jalen Bean hauling in a 46 yardheave from Rayshawn Frazer-Hewitt that was tipped up in the air as three players (Bean and two Greyhound defenders) converged.  M.Holden capped it with a one yard run.

​Kater stuffed the stat sheet 139 rushing and a td, 43 receiving and a td and added a 95 yard int return td.  Kerr added 81 rushing with a pair of scores.

​Ev.Weller lead the defense with nine tackles.  Kade Shopehad the other interception and Kerr had three sacks for 18 yards in losses.
