G-A roundup: Boys place 3rd at MPC X-C race

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY
Greencastle-Antrim takes 4th: The Blue Devils produced five medalists and came in third place in the Class 3A team standings at the Mid Penn Conference championships on Saturday at Big Spring.

The high finish pushed G-A into the team race at the District 3 event on Oct. 29.

Hayden Parks had the best finish for the Blue Devils, taking fourth in 16:14.2

The other medalists (top 35) included Dalton Noblit (12th, 16:40.5), Caden Hudson (25th, 17:01.9), Joel Amstutz (27th, 17:02.3), and Kyle Baker (34th, 17:16.5).

G-A coach Rich Secrest said, “The boys ran a very good race — third in the Mid Penn is always an accomplishment.  We must come back in two weeks and move our 3-5 runners up in hopes of having a chance at making it as a team to states.”

Cumberland Valley won the team title with 79 points, Hershey had 86 and G-A scored 92.

Claire Paci

GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY
Claire Paci is 3rd: Claire Paci of Greencastle-Antrim was unable to defend her Mid Penn Conference girls 3A title on Saturday at Big Spring, but she did place third in the race.

Paci posted a time of 18:45.6 to finish behind Chambersburg’s Camryn Kiser (18:10.7) and Hershey’s Brooke Preputnick (18:30.4).

G-A’s Katherine Board placed 39th in 21:57.7, finishing outside of gaining a medal.

Also for the Blue Devils, Avery Hinkle was 92nd (23:11.3), Celeste Paniego was 95th (23:12.8) and Shavari Maharaj was 101st (23:35.0).
