Greencastle-Antrim 15, James Buchanan 50: The Blue Devils wrapped up their dual meet season Wednesday by defeating the Rockets and claiming the Mid Penn Colonial championship.
Greencastle finished the season 9-0 (7-0 MPC).
The Blue Devils pushed the first nine runners across the line: Caden Hudson (18:15), Hayden Parks (18:17), Kyle Baker (18:34), Dalton Noblit (18:41), Joel Amstutz (18:49), Isaac Boyer (19:57), Logan Bohrer (20:22), Cash Monn (20:53) and Gage Appenzellar (21:05).
JB’s Luke Helman was 10th in 21:14.
GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY
Greencastle-Antrim 19, James Buchanan 39: The Blue Devils had five of the first six runners across the line Wednesday and picked up a Mid Penn Colonial victory over the Rockets to end the dual season.
Claire Paci hit the line first, with a time of 22:14, followed by James Buchanan’s Sydney Fleming in 22:53.
Then, in order for G-A (6-3, 4-3 MPC), came Katherine Board (23:07), Avery Hinkle (23:59), Celeste Paniego-Martinez (24:03) and Shavari Mahara (24:52).
GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Greencastle-Antrim 3, Waynesboro 0: The Blue Devils picked up a huge Mid Penn Colonial victory on the road Wednesday over rival Waynesboro, taking wins of 25-19, 25-12 and 25-21.
“Waynesboro is a tough gym to play in and we had to fight through some nerves, but we made some adjustments and pushed through,” Greencastle coach Corry Eagler said. “Our serving came on strong in games 2 and 3.”
Leading the way in serving for the Blue Devils (12-0, 11-0 MPC) were Abigail Eagler (14 points, 4 aces), Kate Furnish (12, 3), Kiley Burkholder (9, 5) and Ryleigh Davis (11, 4).
Burkholder put up 9 kills and Lily Kauffman added 8. Madeline Eagler led in digs with 10 and assists with 28. Abigail Eagler had 9 digs and Burkholder and Brianna Woodring each had 7.
FIELD HOCKEY
West Perry 7, Greencastle-Antrim 1: The Blue Devils dropped a Mid Penn Colonial game against the Mustangs on Thursday night in Elliottsburg.
Greencastle is 6-9 (5-6 MPC), while West Perry is 13-3.
The Blue Devils’ goal came with just 2 seconds left in the game, when Annika Gaus knocked in a goal and Julia Herrmann got the assist. Goalie Jade Erazo totaled an incredible 26 saves.
G-A coach Lorraine Hohl said, “I continue to be impressed by Jade’s capabilities, skill and direct communication. Her composure when facing challenges and her direction to her teammates are nothing short of an asset on this team. From the back of the field to the front, her leadership guides this team in most every situation and game played.”
