Blazers roll past Grace

The Cumberland Valley Christian Blazers scored late in the first half and went on to claim a 4-1 victory over Grace Academy Tuesday in a Mason Dixon Christian Conference boys soccer game.

The Blazers (10-4-1, 8-3 MDCC) took the lead late in the first half on a goal by Sam Hepler. Hepler and Gage Brookens scored in the second half, and Cort Stouffer closed the Blazers’ scoring with a perfectly placed left-footed free kick into the upper left corner. Grace (5-4-2 MDCC) scored a late goal on a penalty kick.

Stouffer, Brookens, Nollin Egolf and Landon Kellogg contributed assists. Goalkeeper Gabe Beckering made 17 saves.

“We passed and moved the ball well around Grace’s defense,” Blazers coach Stan Hott said. “Finlay’s (Smith) first touch was spot on today and was able to help the offense stay productive.”
