Chambersburg 4, Mifflin County 1: The Trojans ended their Mid Penn Commonwealth season on a high note, by handing the Huskies a loss in a match at Norlo Park on Friday.
“I was proud of all of my seniors this year,” Trojan coach Niko Mucci said, “and especially proud of them contributing to the win on their Senior Night.”
Mifflin County and Chambersburg (4-11, 2-5 MPC) had three of the five matches go to a third set, and the Trojans won two of them.
At No. 3 singles, Sophie Forrester lost a tiebreaker in the first set, but came back with 6-1, 6-4 wins over Kate Riden.
At No. 2 doubles, Shelby Newman and Gabri Stepan dropped the first set 6-4, but rallied for a 7-5 win in the second set and a 10-7 tiebreaker win.
Sarah Vessah picked up a 6-2, 6-3 victory at No. 1 singles over Aija Binder, and Marley Christopher and Ashlee Barrett won 6-1, 6-2. At No. 2 singles, Grace Fiegl fell in three sets, 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 to Ella Knepp.
