G-A roundup: Girls soccer, volleyball teams remain unbeaten

BOYS SOCCER
Greencastle-Antrim 3, Boiling Springs 0: The Blue Devils picked up their fourth shutout victory in their last five games by blanking Boiling Springs on Thursday night at Kaley Field.

Chase Davidson had the hot hand on offense, scoring a goal in the first half for Greencastle (7-3, -3 MPC) and two more in the second half. Henry Drawbaugh and Garrett Decker had assists and the final goal came on a penalty kick. Davidson had one goal this season before his explosion Thursday.

Ethan Ford made 4 saves in goal for the Blue Devils.

GIRLS SOCCER
Greencastle-Antrim 5, Boiling Springs 0: The unbeaten Blue Devils took on the two-loss Bubblers on Thursday night in Boiling Springs and emerged with a 5-0 Mid Penn Colonial win.

Haley Noblit led the charge, scoring four goals. Her first came in the first minute of the game and she made it 2-0 by halftime. Two more goals put it out of reach, and Rylee Henson added the fifth goal on a direct kick. Natalie Hanks added one assist.

Although the score was not that close, Boiling Springs played a great game and really gave Greencastle a much tougher game than the score would appear.  Lexi Nelson was credited with 5 saves, and Boiling Springs speed up top gave us some trouble at times in the game.

Greencastle is now 11-0 (8-0 MPC), while Boiling Springs is 9-3.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Greencastle-Antrim 3, Bis Spring 0: The unbeaten Blue Devils rolled past the Bulldogs in a Mid Penn Colonial match Thursday evening, winning a tight Game 1 and taking the next two handily.

G-A (10-0, 9-0 MPC) won 26-24 in the opener, then prevailed 25-12 and 25-17 in the final two.

Statistical leaders for Greencastle included Abigail Eagler (11 kills, 11 service points, 2 aces and 13 digs); Kiley Burkholder (8 kills); Lily Kauffman (7 kills, 2 blocks); Kate Furnish (14 points, 2 aces); Ryleigh Davis (10 points); Brianna Woodring (12 digs); and Madeline Eagler 34 assists.

 

FIELD HOCKEY
Shippensburg 2, Greencastle-Antrim 1: The Blue Devils dropped a Mid Penn Colonial game Thursday afternoon to the Greyhounds.

Ainsley Swindell posted the score for Greencastle (5-8, 4-5 MPC), and it was unassisted.

Jade Erazo made 14 saves for G-A.
