G-A roundup: Sydney Barnes advances to District 3 golf

Mid Penn Championships: Greencastle-Antrim’s Sydney Barnes shot a score of 93 on Tuesday at Dauphin Highlands to qualify for the District 3 Tournament on Oct. 7-8.

Barnes shot nines of 47-46, scoring three pars on each of the front and back nines.

In the boys tournament, nine players tied for the final six spots for districts, with G-A’s Jackson Eby one of them. He shot 86 in the tournament, and was the final player eliminated in the playoff, on the third hole.

Also for the Blue Devils, Cooper Swam had a 92, and Levi Tennison and Brady Jackson each shot 95.

Greencastle-Antrim 3, Waynesboro 0: Ainsley Swindell was busy assisting on all three goals in the Blue Devils’ Mid Penn Colonial victory over the Maidens on Tuesday afternoon at Kaley Field.

Alishya Thurmond tallied the first goal for the Blue Devils (5-7, 4-4 MPC), Annika Gaus notched the second and Elie Divelbiss scored the final goal. Goalie Jade Erazo had to make only one save.

GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY
Greencastle-Antrim 15, Southern Fulton 43: The Blue Devils were able to place the top five runners on Tuesday and took a victory over the Indians in a non-league meet.

For Greencastle (5-3), Claire Paci (21:49.2) edged teammate Katherine Board (12:49.5) for first place, followed by Avery Hinkle (23.05), Celeste Pantiego-Martinez (23:24) and Shavari Maharaj (23:52).

For Southern Fulton, Samantha Ashkettle was sixth in 24:14.

Greencastle-Antrim 15, Southern Fulton 49: The Blue Devils placed the first six runners across the line to defeat the Indians in a non-league meet Tuesday.

Caden Hudson ran in 17:51 to win over teammate Hayden Parks (17:51.4) for Greencastle (8-0), followed by Kyle Baker (17:53.7), Joel Amstutz (17:57.0), Dalton Noblit (18:00) and Cash Monn (18:28).

For SF, Kasey Fritz was seventh in 19:06.

Greencastle-Antrim 4, Big Spring 0: The Blue Devils picked up a win in their third straight game, a shutout over the Bulldogs in a Mie Penn Colonial game Tuesday night at Kaley Field.

In the first half, Cooper Noblit and Caleb Baine each scored goals for G-A (6-2, 4-2 MPC), while Andrew Bowers and Garrett Decker supplied assists.

In the second half, Baine and Mitch Lagoe hit the back of he net, with Brady Wagner and Ben Murray picking up the assists.

Greencastle-Antrim 3, Gettysburg 0: The Blue Devils remained unbeaten by rolling over Mid Penn Colonial foe Gettysburg, winning games of 25-13, 25-15 and 25-21.

For the Blue Devils (9-0, 8-0 MPC), Kiley Burkholder racked up 9 kills, 3 aces and 9 digs and Madeline Eagler had 10 service points, 3 aces and 18 assists.

Kate Furnish had 12 points and 2 blocks, Lily Kauffman put down 9 kills, Bri Woodward had 3 aces and Addie Kagarise blocked 2 balls.

Greencastle-Antrim at Big Spring: The Blue Devils ran their record to 10-0 (9-0 MPC) with a Mid Penn Colonial win over the Bulldogs on Tuesday night in Newville.

Mia Libby led the way offensively with 2 goals and an assist for Greencastle. Other goal scorers were Natalie Hanks, Haley Noblit, Abi Wolfe, Riley Burns, Caroline Logsdon and Brooke Guthrie.

Rylee Henson contributed 2 assists and Noblit added an assist.
