Chambersburg roundup: 3 Trojans reach District 3 golf

3 Trojans qualify for District 3: The Mid Penn Conference held its golf championships at Dauphin Highlands on Tuesday and three Chambersburg players were able to place high enough to qualify for the District 3 Tournament on Oct. 7-8.

For the girls, Emily Rensch shot a 90 to place sixth and move on, and Trojan teammate Emma Tolbert had a 101 to take 14th place. The Trojans placed third in the team standings.

Jeremy Otto was the only one to advance for the boys. He shot an 82 to place 13th.

Waynesboro’s Tyler Fortney shot a 73 to tie for medalist honors with Chase Smith of Lower Dauphin.  Indian teammate Evan Stein shot 76 to place fourth and Waynesboro placed third as a team.

Shippensburg’s Mason Fogelsonger shot 86 to tie for the final qualifying spot and he moved on after a three-hole playoff.

For the girls, Ship’s Ava Frontino shot 103 to just make the cut.

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY
Chambersburg wins 2 meets: The Trojans bested Central Dauphin 24-35 for a Mid Penn Commonwealth meet Tuesday, and also took care of non-league foe Lower Dauphin, 23-32, in Linglestown.

Chambersburg’s Ari Snyder placed second with a time of 16:47.0, followed by Aden Alleman (4th, 17:11.7), Ryan Benbow (7th, 18:02.9), Kaden Rife (8th, 18:05.6) and Owen Shrader (11th, 18:33.8).

The Trojans finished the dual meet season with a 5-2 record (4-2 MPC).

GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY
Trojans collect 3 wins: Chambersburg closed out its dual meet season Tuesday afternoon by picking up three wins — 19-44 over Mid Penn Commonwealth opponent Central Dauphin, and over non-league teams Lower Dauphin (17_45) and Covenant Christian (15-49).

Camryn Kiser hit the finish line in 20:03.5 to place first. Also scoring for Chambersburg were Madelyn Koons (3rd, 21:19.8), Lexi Boyd (4th, 21:213(, Abigail Bricker (6th, 22:04.5) and Fernanda Orihuela (7th, 22:04.8).

Chambersburg ended up with a 7-1 record (5-1 MPC).

 

FIELD HOCKEY
Central Dauphin 4, Chambersburg 0: The Rams defeated the Trojans (2-9, 0-7 MPC) in a Mid Penn Commonwealth game Tuesday afternoon.
