Jade Erazo

FIELD HOCKEY
West Perry 4, Greencastle-Antrim 0: The Mustangs’ offense was stymied for much of the game, but some late goals helped create a Mid Penn Colonial victory over the Blue Devils in Greencastle on Tuesday afternoon.

“Defensively, we were able to hold West Perry from scoring until later in the second half of the game, and made them really work hard at creating scoring opportunities,” G-A coach Lorraine Hohl said. “We are eager to come out Thursday and play with more of an offensive mindset and keeping our heads held high.”

Goalie Jade Erazo made 9 saves for Greencastle (2-, 2-2 MPC).

Garrett Decker

BOYS SOCCER
West Perry 4, Greencastle-Antrim 1: The Blue Devils opened the scoring early in the second half, but the Mustangs responded with four goals of their own to capture a Mid Penn Colonial win Tuesday night in Elliottsburg.

Mitch Lagoe scored off a pass from Garrett Decker just 6:50 into the second half for Greencastle (2-1, 1-1 MPC). West Perry tied it five minutes later, then went ahead on a penalty kick 10 minutes later.

Ethan Ford had 6 saves for G-A.

Blue Devil coach Aric Bruner said, “I thought we controlled the entire first half and the start of the second half. We looked extremely calm and collected and put a good amount of shots on goal and were rewarded with a goal early in the second half from Mitch.

“West Perry is a great team (ranked No. 2 in District AA Power Rankings), and they found a way to get through our backline to tie it up and gain some momentum. I thought we were unlucky with the penalty kick foul that was called, but we need to learn from the situation we put ourselves in and improve going forward.”
