Greencastle-Antrim 10, Shippensburg 0: The Blue Devils unleashed a torrid offense Wednesday night at Kaley Field and handed the Greyhounds a lopsided defeat in a Mid Penn Colonial game.
Haley Noblit led the charge for Greencastle (3-0, 1-0 MPC) by scoring three goals. Brooke Guthrie scored twice and added an assist.
Abi Wolfe, Abi Guthrie, Zhen Reuter, Riley Burns and Caterina Marchiano each found the back of the net once. Sajel Sriram contributed two assists, while Mia Libby had one.
Ship (0-3), which fell behind 5-0 by halftime, did not record a shot on goal.
GOLF
Blue Devils place 2nd: The Mid Penn Colonial golf match at Eagles Crossing on Wednesday was reduced to just 9 holes because of the rainy weather, but Greencastle-Antrim managed a second-place finish behind Waynesboro.
The Indians (23-1) finished with 157 strokes and G-A (20-4) had 165. Shippensburg (9-15) was fourth with 183 and James Buchanan (1-23) took seventh with 208.
The Blue Devils’ Ben Irr tied for medalist honors with ‘Boro’s Evan Stein with two-over par 36s, followed by the Indians’ Tyler Fortney with 37.
“Ben was really solid with his nine-hole score,” G-A coach Jeremy Eby said.
Also for the Blue Devils, Levi Tennison scored 39 to tie for fourth, Ben Horst tie for eighth with a 43 and Brady Jackson tied for 10th with a 44.
For Ship, Mason Fogelsonger and Ben Horgos each shot 44 to tie for 10th. JB’s top player was Elijah Blair with a 46 and Greencastle’s Sydney Barnes (54) was the top female player.
