Red Land 3, Chambersburg 2: The Trojans nearly captured a Mid Penn Commonwealth win Wednesday afternoon in their first home match of the season at Norlo Park, but the Patriots used a 3-0 run in singles to pull out a victory.
Two of the singles matches were tight the entire way. At No. 1, Sarah Vessah fell 6-7, 3-6 to Red Land’s Makayla Elscheid, and at No. 3, Grace Fiegl was defeated 6-4, 6-4 by Nealey Hamer.
The points for Chambersburg (1-3, 0-2 MPC) came at No. 1 doubles, where Sophie Forrester and Marley Christopher bagged a win in two sets (6-0, 7-5) and the No. 2 team of Shelby Newman and Ashlee Barrett prevailed 6-2, 6-2.
