Waynesboro wins opener: The Indians hosted the Mid Penn Colonial in the season-opening golf match on Monday afternoon and Waynesboro took first place in a competitive event.
The Indians had the top two players: Tyler Fortney fired a one-under par 71 and Evan Stein was the runner-up with 78.
Greencastle-Antrim placed third in the team standings, putting five players in the top 15 — Ben Irr (tie 4th, 81), Jackson Eby (tie 7th, 84), Joey Singer (tie 7th, 84), Brady Jackson (12th, 86) and Levi Tennison (15th, 90).
Shippensburg placed fifth, and Mason Fogelsonger led the way with an 85, good for a tie for 10th. For James Buchanan, Elijah Blair was the top scorer, with 100.
In girls play, Ship’s Ava Frontino posted 100 and G-A’s Sydney Barnes was one shot back with 101.
