Grencastle defeats Back Mountain 3-0 behind Cam Rakaczewski

Cam Rakaczewski  pitched a five hit shutout, and hit a homerun to lead Greencastle to a 3-0 win over Back Mountain National in the opening game of the Pennsylvania State Little League Championship Wednesday morning at the University of Pittsburgh Bradford. The win will advance Greencastle to the Winner’s Bracket Semifinal Thursday at 5:00 p.m. against Southern Lehigh who defeated Aston-Middletown 14-4.

Rakaczewski hit a solo homerun to centerfield leading off the top of the third to give Greencastle a 1-0 lead, which was all they would need.

Greencastle added another run in the fifth to make it 2-0 on a solo homerun from Luke Anderson.

Greencastle added another insurance run in the top of the sixth on a Quinton Carr double and and an RBI single by Eli Wingert.

Rakaczewski  pitched six innings scattering five hits, walking one and struck out eleven.

Greencastle was held to six hits on the day, four were extra base hits, home runs from Rakaczewski and Anderson and doubles from Cole Burkholder and Carr.

Greencastle is now 11-1 in tournament play.
