Greencastle 12U defeats Shippensburg 11-2

Greencastle ended pool play 4-0  with an 11-2 win over Shippensburg and will enter the District 14 Double Elimination tournament on Tuesday.

It was another dominating performance by Greencastle. Cam Rakaczewski pitched the first three innings and was perfect, striking out all nine batters he faced. Rakaczewski threw only 35 pitches, 28 for strikes. Connor Flohr pitched the final three innings allowing two runs on three hits, six strikeouts and no walks.Greencastle pitchers worked 19 innings in the four pool play games, allowing just three runs, seven hits, two walks, and 46 strikeouts. In four games Greencastle outscored their opponents 59-3.

Greencastle scored two runs in the first, two in the second and seven in the third inning. Rakaczewski , Luke Anderson, Flohr and Quinton Cole had two hits apiece for  Greencastle. Rakaczewski, Anderson and Jex McDowell all had 2 RBI for Greencastle.

Levi Maciejwski had two hits for Shippensburg.

Two teams from each division in the Major West qualify for the double elimination tournament. Shippensburg and Gettysburg both finished 1-3 behind Greencastle and  Shippensburg will be the other team from the South Division based on Little League tiebreaker rules of head to head run differential. Carlisle and South Middleton are the qualifiers from the North Division. The District 14 tournament begins Tuesday July 5 and Greencastle will play Carlisle at Clary Field in Greencastle at 6:00 p.m.The game and all Greencastle games will be broadcast on Mid Penn Broadcasting. Shippensburg will play South Middleton at South Middelton at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
