Southern Fulton advances to District V Championship

The SoFo Indians (17-5) punched their ticket to the PIAA District V Championship game Thursday with a convincing 7-1 victory over the Fannett-Metal Tigers.

Junior, Kasey Fitz came to the ballpark and meant business on Thursday, driving in four runs on three hits to lead SoFo. 

SoFo got things moving in the first inning, when Trayton Younker doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

The Indians secured the victory thanks to four runs in the fourth inning.  Fitz had a bases loaded triple and Ethan Powell followed with an RBI single in the frame. 

Sr., Holden Stotler earned the victory on the mound for SoFo Indians. Stotler lasted six innings, scattering three hits and one run while striking out three and walking one.  Ethan Mellott threw a perfect 7th out of the bullpen to complete the game.

Freshman, Landon Arnold took the loss for Fannett Metal. Arnold lasted four innings, allowing five hits and five runs while striking out one.

The Indians racked up eight hits on the day.  Fitz (3) and Zach Price (2) both managed multiple hits for SoFo.   

The District Championship game will be played at Everett HS June 1. The Indians will take on the #1 seed Rockwood Rockets. Start time is TBA.
