Southern Fulton wins big over Forbes Road

Sophomore Infielder, Hunter Ward, in his first varsity start, helped lead the way for SoFo Indians over Forbes Road 23-1 on Thursday.  Ward was 4-4 on the day as he  singled in the first, singled in the third, singled in the fourth, and doubled in the fifth.

SoFo Indians (12-3, 11-1) secured the victory thanks to 14 runs in the fifth inning.  SoFo Indians’s big bats in the inning were led by singles by Adam Ashkettle, Levi Souders, Hayden Lawrence, and Konner Pittman, an error on a ball put in play by Ethan Mellott and Souders, doubles by Dane Harvey and Ward, a walk by Ashkettle, and a sacrifice fly by Ward.

SoFo Indians got things moving in the first inning, when Harvey doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

SoFo Indians scored 14 runs in the fifth inning.  Mellott, Ashkettle, Souders, Ward, Lawrence, and  Harvey each had RBIs in the big inning.

Ethan Mellott (2-0) earned the victory on the pitcher’s mound for SoFo Indians. The righthander surrendered one run on one hit over four innings, striking out seven.  Hayden Lawrence threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

SoFo Indians saw the ball well today, racking up 20 hits in the game.  Ward, Harvey, Ethan Powell, Levi Souders, and Hayden Lawrence each racked up multiple hits for SoFo Indians.  Harvey and Ward each collected four hits to lead SoFo Indians.  SoFo Indians stole eight bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Lawrence led the way with three.

SoFo hosts Everett Saturday at 3pm in a huge ICC South contest.  The teams are currently tied for first with one loss.
