Greencastle-Antrim 6, Waynesboro 5: The Blue Devils quelled a sixth-inning rally by the Maidens to squeeze out a Mid Penn Colonial victory on Saturday morning at home.
Greencastle (1-1, 1-1 MPC) erased a 2-0 Waynesboro lead by scoring three runs in the fourth inning, then after ‘Boro went ahead 4-3 in the fifth, scored three more times to take a 6-4 lead. The Maidens got one back in the sixth, but Sophia Layton relieved winning pitcher Sydney Orndorff with one out in the sixth and earned a save.
The Blue Devils’ Makayla Jerin was 2-for-3 with a double, two runs scored and three runs batted in. Orndorff also had a pair of hits, while other RBIs came from Abby Stouffer, Emma Broadwater and Caroline Logsdon (sacrifice fly).
For Waynesboro (1-1, 0-1 MPC), Cameron Witter cracked a solo home run and Slaydon Fisher was 2-for-2 with a pair of walks.
