Fannett-Metal moved to (2-0) on the season with a 5-0 victory over visiting Tussey Mountain.
The Tigers struck first in the second inning on a home run by Drew Goshorn. From the 3rd inning on, Tigers pitching would allow only one base runner the rest of the way. Coffman stole 2nd and moved to third on a single by Landon Arnold. Wyatt Appleby was intentionally walked to load the bases. Sharar hit a sacrifice fly to score Coffman. Arnold would score on a overthrow to plate the final run of the game.
“Offensively we only managed 5 hits today, but we did a great job of moving runners and manufacturing runs to lock down the win”, Fannett-Metal Coach Paul Coffman said.
Senior Wyatt Appleby started and pitched five scoreless innings. He had 10 K’s, 1 BB and gave up no hits. Freshman Landon Arnold pitched the final two innings. He had 5 K’s and gave up 1 hit. “Wyatt was sharp today and got stronger as the game went on. Landon came in and closed the door”, Coffman said. Tigers pitchers combined for 15 strike outs and gave up only 1 hit.
The Tigers will visit James Buchanan on Monday at 4:15.
