LEWISBURG — Shippensburg’s Jed Ritchie did not earn a medal, but he did place in the top 16 in two events over the weekend in the PIAA Class 2A Swimming Championships at Bucknell University.
The Greyhound sophomore qualified in the 100 butterfly and the 500 freestyle. Friday, in the fly, Ritchie swam a time of 53.35, better than his seed time of 53.39, to post the 16th-best time. That put him in the consolation finals, where he posted a time of 53.66 and placed 14th.
Saturday in the 500 free, Ritchie could not match his seed time of 4:50.22, but his 4:54.77 put him in 16th. In the consolation final, Ritchie swam 4:54.40 to place 15th.
Shippensburg senior Colin Krause qualified in the 50 free with a time of 22.72. He swam 22.77 in the prelims (tied for 24th) and did not qualify for the finals.
James Buchanan senior Madison Price had a seed time of 2:19.12 to qualify in the 200 IM. In the prelims, she swam 2:19.17 to place 27th and did not make the finals.
