Waynesboro advances 3, JB qualifies 1 for district wrestling

Brake moves on: James Buchanan’s Nathan Brake placed fifth in 160 pounds in the District 3 Class 2A Section I Tournament on Saturday at Susquenita.

That place qualifies Brake for the District 3 Championships, which will be held next Saturday at CD East.

Brake scored two pins on his way to a 3-2 record for the day. In the bout for fifth place, Brake edged Tanner Rock of Littlestown by an 8-6 score.

Also for the Rockets, Jeremy Minor was 0-2 at 106 and Jacob Frey was 0-2 at 152.

Indians qualify 3: Waynesboro ended up in seventh place in the team standings and advanced three wrestlers to the next round at the District 3 Class 3A Section IV Tournament at South Western on Saturday.

Bodie Rouzer reached the final at 132 pounds, where he was edged 1-0 by Ivan Vega of Spring Grove to finish 2-1 for the day. His brother, Kaden Rouzer, was also 2-1 and took second at 145, where he fell 3-1 to Noah Rice of York Suburban in the final. In addition, Jayden Rooney was 3-1 and took third place at 113 pounds.

Also for the Indians, Colby Bittorie (2-2) was fifth at 160 and Titus Mong (1-3) was sixth hat 172. Other Waynesboro competitors included Calvin Myers (2-2 at 126), Garrett Price (0-2 at 138), Robert Howard (2-2 at 152), Caden Shockey (2-2 at 189), Isaac Bautista (1-2 at 215) and Cort Myers (0-2 at 285).
