Southern Fulton defeated Fannett Metal in an ICC game on Friday evening 58 to 42. Fannett Metal had a 12-11 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter the Indians came out and hit a 3 pointer to take a 14-12 lead and they would never trail the rest of the way.
The Tigers would eventually have to switch defenses and that’s when the Indians gained control of the game. “We threw a little junk at them for as long as we could and they were frustrated, but once they got the lead, we had to change our game plan”, Tigers Coach Paul Coffman said. The Indians would take a 31- 23 lead into the half.
In the 3rd quarter the Tigers Hunter Hill started to find some success inside as he scored 6 points and a three pointer by Luke Coffman narrowed the lead to 3 halfway through the quarter. The momentum appeared to be shifting at that point in the game, and the gym got very loud, but Dane Harvey made a basket and got fouled in the process. A technical foul put Konner Pittman at the line where he made both and gave the Indians the back the ball. The Indians would lead 42-33 after three quarters.
In the fourth quarter the teams traded a few baskets, but the Indians then outscored the Tigers 16 to 4 in the 4th quarter to close out the game. Southern Fulton showed their discipline by executing their offense and eventually the Tigers were forced to foul. The Indians put the game away mid way through the fourth quarter to take home a 58-42 win. “I have a lot of respect for Southern Fulton’s program, they have been extremely successful year after year. They execute their game plan night in and night out and play very disciplined basketball”, Coffman said.
Southern Fulton was led by Zach Price with 19 points, and 12 rebounds. Konner Pittman has 18 points, 2 assists, and 3 steals. Dane Harvey had 12 points, and 8 rebounds. Ethan Mellott had 3 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists. Tyler Mosemann added 2 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 steals.
Fannett Metal was led by Hunter Hill with 13 points, and 3 assists. Wyatt Appleby had 11 points and 5 rebounds. Ayden Warren had 6 points and a pair of steals, while Luke Coffman had 5 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists.
