G-A roundup: Blue Devils, Greyhounds split pair of games

GIRLS BASKETBALL
Greencastle-Antrim 72, Shippensburg 28: The Blue Devils put the game away in the first half, outscoring the Greyhounds 45-14, in a Mid Penn Colonial game Friday night in Greencastle.

G-A had Senior Night for Lauren Pool and Kiersten Britner, who is out with a knee injury. She actually started the game, Shippensburg conceded the tip, then Britner stepped out of bounds and got an ovation.

Greencastle banged in 9 threes, including 3 by Rylee Henson, who totaled 11 points and 4 assists. Haley Noblit stuck in 21 points, including 18 in the first half, and Mai Libby put up 14 of her 18 points in the opening half. Noblit also had 6 assists and 3 steals, and Libby had 4 assists and 6 steals, as G-A totaled 21 steals for the game.

The Blue Devils also got 11 points, 7 rebounds and 3 steals from Pool and 6 rebounds by Shaina Overcash.

Greencastle shot 45.6% from the field (26-for-57) and hit 9 of 23 from 3-point range (39%).

Shippensburg 77, Greencastle-Antrim 58: The underdog Blue Devils got off to a rough start against the Greyhounds and could not catch up in a Mid Penn Colonial defeat at Shippensburg on Friday night.

Shippensburg, playing without big man Anthony Smith, got 10 points from Jeremy Thomas in the first quarter and took a 21-10 lead. Thomas finished with 21 points, and the Hounds (12-1, 9-0 MPC) also put Erby Weller (15), Jayden Statum (14) and Carter Funk (11) in double figures.

For Greencastle (6-12, 4-8 MPC), Conner Wright led the way with 22 points Eli Sterling totaled 18 points.
