G-A roundup: Blue Devil girls’ defense again plays tough

Greencastle-Antrim 60, Boiling Springs 10: The Blue Devils allowed the Bubblers to make two baskets in the first quarter, but none in the final three periods to pick up a Mid Penn Colonial blowout win Tuesday night at home.

It was the third consecutive game in which Greencastle allowed 11 points or fewer. A total of 21 Blue Devil steals helped the defense.

Haley Noblit scored 17 of her 19 points in the first half, when G-A piled up a 41-6 lead, and Lauren Pool scored 12 of her 16 points. Pool also had 10 rebounds for a double-double and blocked 4 shots. Noblit added 7 steals, 4 boards and 3 assists.

Also for Greencastle (14-3, 9-2 MPC), Rylee Henson had 4 rebounds and 4 assists, Mia Libby made 7 steals and had 4 boards and Shaina Overcash had 4 rebounds. Lexi Nelson scored her first varsity points.

Boiling Springs 61, Greencastle-Antrim 54: Trey Martin had two big quarters for the Bubblers and that was enough to lift them over the Blue Devils in a Mid Penn Colonial game Tuesday night on the road.

Martin scored 12 points in Boiling Springs’ 20-point second quarter and 10 more in the Bubblers’ 20-point fourth period. He totaled 24 points. Boiling Springs (8-6, 6-2 MPC) sank 19 of 24 free throws.

The Blue Devils (6-11, 4-7 MPC), who saw a four-game winning streak end, outscored their opponent 14-8 in the first period and 16-13 in the third.

Conner Wright topped Greencastle with 19 points and Eli Sterling totaled 10 points. Wright is averaging 19.1 points per game in his last six games.
