GIRLS BASKETBALL
Chambersburg 56, Central Dauphin East 52: The Trojans had a couple of season firsts on Friday night on the road at CD East and reeled in a Mid Penn Commonwealth victory.
Chambersburg (2-11, 2-6 MPC) knocked down nine 3-pointers, which was a season-high. Also, three Trojans scored in double figures — only once had more than one (2) achieved that in a game.
“It was great to see both JV and varsity win tonight,” Trojan coach Blake Schildthauer said. “We really needed that momentum going into next week when we have four games, including three on the road.”
Allie List hit a career-high for the second straight game, this time with 20 points, and she added 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Lily Cornwell scored 12 points and contributed 6 steals, and Kylie Miller had a career-high 10 points plus 5 blocked shots.
List hit five 3-pointers, Cornwell made three and Joelle Rheam hit one.
The Panthers (0-16, 0-10 MPC) got 22 points from Nyi’lah Luckett and 20 from Rosalynn Diehl, who played for the Trojans last year and transferred.
Schildthauer said, “These girls have learned so much and they are starting to see their hard work turn into close basketball games or wins. This team continues to strive to improve themselves and their team chemistry.”
