G-A roundup: Blue Devil girls rebound with win

GIRLS BASKETBALL
Greencastle-Antrim 49, West Perry 26: Haley Noblit scored 11 of her game-high 17 points to help the Blue Devils take out the Mustangs in a Mid Penn Colonial game Friday night in Elliottsburg.

Rylee Henson opened the game with a 3-pointer and Noblit hit a couple of layups after the defense used pressure to cause turnovers to help G-A zip to a 9-0 lead the start the game. It was 26-9 by halftime.

For the Blue Devils (11-2, 7-1 MPC), Noblit also had 6 assists and 3 steals. Shaina Overcash scored 8 points and had 5 rebounds and a pair of steals, and Lauren Pool had 8 boards and 4 blocked shots. Ainsley Swindell contributed 7 points, 4 rebounds and 3 steals and Mia Libby had 4 boards, 4 assists and 2 steals.

Allison Yoder led West Perry with 11 points.

WRESTLING
G-A’s Redos advances to semifinals: Greencastle-Antrim participated in the New Oxford Invitational’s early rounds on Friday night and the four Blue Devil wrestlers combined for a 6-4 record.

Jonathan Redos (189 pounds) advanced to Saturday’s semifinals with a bye, a pin in 2:55 and a 5-3 victory over Nader Shawakha of Central Dauphin East in the quarterfinals. Redos scored a takedown with 25 seconds left in sudden victory to break a 3-3 tie.

Garrett Keener (132) and Adam Booze (160) each won twice, but were defeated in the quarterfinals. Keener had a pin and 10-1 major decision to start, then lost by a pin. Booze had a bye, then a pin, and was tech falled in the quarters. Both are still alive in the wrestlebacks.

Mason Booze (145) notched a pin in his first bout, but then lost twice and was eliminated.
