F.C. TIP-OFF: Host Indians break away from Blue Devils

WAYNESBORO — After an even first quarter, Waynesboro’s defense put the clamps on the offense of Greencastle-Antrim — after scoring 17 points in the opening period, the Blue Devils managed only 11 the rest of the way.

Blake Shadoan

That led the Indians to a 61-28 victory in the boys game for third place in the Franklin County Tip-Off Tournament on Saturday evening at Waynesboro.

The Blue Devils (0-2) hung with Waynesboro (1-1) early with balanced scoring. But nobody could get hot after the first 12 minutes.

The Indians outscored their rival 13-3 in the second period to take a 10-point halftime lead, then increased the margin in the second half.

Reese Cover scored all of his 14 points in the second half for the victors, while Ryan Shaffer had 7 of his 12 in the third. Jaylon Bean carried Waynesboro in the first half with all of his 14 points.

For Greencastle, Adam Horst scored 6 points and Blake Shadoan and Eli Sterling each provided 5 points.

Shadoan and Bean were both named to the all-tournament team.
