G-A roundup: Big 2nd half carries boys soccer over Rockets

Greencastle-Antrim 6, James Buchanan 0: The Rockets’ defense had a strong first half, but the Blue Devils exploded for six second-half goals to capture a Mid Penn Colonial game at JB’s soccer complex Thursday night.

G-A coach Aric Bruner said, “Credit James Buchanan — they came out very defensively strong in the first half. We weren’t playing up to our potential. The boys listened to halftime team talk and executed in the second half. I was very pleased with the way they finished the game.”

The goals for Greencastle (4-6-1, 3-4-1 MPC) were split between Cale Stover, Mitchell Lagoe and Theo Gerald-Oreste, each of whom tagged the back of the net twice.

Garrett Decker provided two assists, while Gerald-Oreste, Lagoe, Ewan Coy and Kyle Baker each had one. Gavin Davidson made 4 saves to earn a shutout.

Greencastle-Antrim 6, James Buchanan 0: The Blue Devils stretched their win streak to nine Thursday evening with a 6-0 romp over Mid Penn Colonial opponent James Buchanan at Kaley Field.

Greencastle is now 10-1 (7-0 MPC).

Courtney Andruczk scored a pair of goals and added an assist and Avery Parks notched two goals. Mia Libby contributed three assists for the Blue Devils.

Also for G-A,  Haley Noblit and Abi Guthrie scored goals and Olivia Russell contributed an assist.

Northern York 3, Greencastle-Antrim1 : The Blue Devils won the first game 25-18, but the Polar Bears won 26-24 in the second and took the final two (25-18, 25-20) to capture a Mid Penn Colonial victory Thursday night in Greencastle’s gym.

Madeline Eagler had a busy night for G-A, with 38 assists, 11 digs, 22 service points and 5 aces.

Greencastle (6-6, 5-5 MPC) got big nights at the net from Lauren Pool and Kiley Burkholder, each of whom had 12 kills, and Pool had a block. Also, Alayna Welsh had 26 digs, Hannah Russel had 7 kills, Kate Furnish (17 points) and Gracie Trobaugh (14) had good serving nights and Burkholder had 14 digs.




Red Land 8, Greencastle-Antrim 0: The Blue Devils had a rough road trip Thursday afternoon, suffering a non-league defeat against the Patriots.

Greencastle (6-7), who have lost four straight, got 16 saves from goalie Jade Erazo.
