Greencastle-Antrim 2, Northern York 1: The Blue Devils faced off against the defending state runner-up Polar Bears on Thursday evening at Kaley Field and came up with a 2-1 victory.

“What a tremendous game by both teams, ”  Greencastle coach Aric Bruner said. “Our veteran players are really leading our team and our younger players are growing into their roles. Our defense is being led by our two center backs (Cale Stover and Austin Wenger) and they are just playing tremendous soccer right now.”

Garrett Bennett scored a goal in the first half to give G-A (2-2-1, 2-2-1 MPC), assisted by Theo Gerald Oreste. After Northern tied the game before halftime, the Blue Devils got the game-winner from Caleb Baine, with an assist going to Ewan Coy. Gavin Davidson made 5 saves in goal for the Devils.

Bruner said, “Our midfield of Baine, (Kyle) Baker, and Coy are spatially playing some of the best soccer from a midfield since I’ve been at G-A – they aren’t getting noticed much during the games, which is fine, because they are just blue-collar workers getting their jobs done.”
