Carter Flory

Last week: The Trojans (2-2, 0-1 MPC) fell 38-22 to State College … Malachi Scott hauled in two long bombs (77 and 80 yards) from Jermere Jones and Rhaigeon Parker had a 96-yard kickoff return for a score … The offense had only 5 first downs and the defense allowed 406 yards to the Little Lions … Central Dauphin (1-1) was idle for the second straight week — missing games against Manheim Township and Harrisburg — because of Covid concerns.
The Trojans: Center Brandon Vaughn suffered a knee injury and will be out for the season … Last week, Carter Flory moved from right tackle to center; he could start there Friday, or Chase Stenger could step in at center … Luther said, “The front line did some good things last week, some technical stuff, and Carter Flory did some at both positions. We’re also encouraged by the running backs (Rashawn Williams and Bryce Flenory) — they’re both inexperienced, but are starting to learn how to run downhill.” … Flenory has 30 carries for 190 yards and Williams has 29 for 108 … Jones has hit 22 of 48 throws for 463 yards and 4 TDs, with 3 picks … Parker leads the receivers with 8 catches for 169 yards.
The Rams: QB Max Mosey is back for his senior season and is a big-time dual threat … He has thrown 29 times, completing 17, for 268 yards and 2 TDs, and he’s run 31 times for 160 yards and 3 scores … RB Tyrell English has carried 36 times for 194 yards and 3 TDs … David Chase (5-89) and Andre Noel (5-58) are the top receivers … Luther said, “They’re still the same makeup of a team — the quarterback is pretty darn good and can run, the running back is strong and they have good size up front. They maybe just don’t have all those superstar kids they’ve had recently.”
Coach’s viewpoint: “Looking at last week, and every week, we’re looking to see some improvement,” Luther said. “We saw that last week, but, unfortunately, our mental errors came at crucial times and we have to eliminate that. We have to develop some consistency on offense and get some drives together. The defense has been on the field too much, and when we have guys playing both ways like we do, then we get tired on offense.”
