G-A roundup: Blue Devils roll to pair of wins over Bubblers

Greencastle-Antrim 12, Boiling Springs 2: Bailee Martin-Irving pitched a four-hitter, hit a pair of home runs and drove in five runs to carry the Blue Devils over the Bubblers in a Mid Penn Colonial game Thursday afternoon.

Greencastle (10-7, 9-4 MPC) struck for six runs in the third inning to go ahead 9-1.

Sydney Orndorff was 3-for-3 for the Blue Devils, including a triple, Martin-Irving was 2-for-3, Adrianna Beeler was 2-for-3 and blasted a solo home run, Abby Stouffer was 2-for-3 and knocked in two runs, and Emma Broadwater was also 2-for-3. Trinity Myers hit a triple and had three runs batted in and Sydra Royer also brought in a run.

Martin-Irving pitched all five innings, with no walks and nine strikeouts.

Greencastle-Antrim 9, Boiling Springs 0: Logan Layton pitched 6 2/3 innings, allowed four hits and struck out seven to help the Blue Devils take care of the Bubblers in a Mid Penn Colonial game Thursday afternoon at home.

Greencastle (13-6, 11-3 MPC), which snapped a two-game losing skid, scored five runs in the second inning and two each in the sixth and seventh.

Andrew Kerns had three hits in four at-bats, Layton doubled and contributed three RBIs, Aidan Grudzinski was 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs, Brady Diller and Connor Rohm each had two hits and a run batted in and Logan Horst came up with two runs driven in.

Carter came in in relief and secured the final out for the shutout.
