Northern York 11, Greencastle-Antrim 6: The Blue Devils put together a big five-run bottom of the seventh inning to tie the Polar Bears 6-6, but Northern came right back with five runs in the top of the eighth to win a key Mid Penn Colonial game Tuesday afternoon in Greencastle.
G-A committed five errors, which led to four unearned runs for the Bears. G-A needed a win to stay alive in the division race.
Bailee Martin-Irving had a huge day at the plate for the Blue Devils (9-7, 8-4 MPC), with two doubles and a triple in four at-bats, and she drove in two runs.
Makayla Jerin was 2-for-4 and Abbi Cunningham, Sydney Orndorff, Emma Broadwater and Abby Stouffer all knocked in runs. Broadwater and Sydra Royer each hit a double.
For Northern (14-3), Hailey Irwin was 3-for-5 and slugged a home run.
Northern York 7, Greencastle-Antrim 1: Facing one of the top pitchers in the Mid Penn, the Blue Devils came up short against the Polar Bears in a big Mid Penn Colonial game Tuesday on the road.
Tommy Molsky allowed only one hit in 6 2/3 innings and struck out nine batters.
Greencastle is now 12-6 (10-3 MPC) and needed a win to stay in contention for a division win. Northern is 15-3.
The Blue Devils scored their only run in the fourth. Caiden Smith was hit by a pitch and Logan Layton singled. Connor Rohm was also hit by a pitch, then Andrew Kerns drew a walk to earn a run batted in.
Logan Horst had the only other base hit for Greencastle.
