G-A roundup: Softball, baseball teams split with ‘Boro

Greencastle-Antrim 8, Waynesboro 5:
Emma Broadwater slugged a 2-run home run and Abbi Cunningham was 4-for-4 to help the Blue Devils capture a big Mid Penn Colonial win over Waynesboro on Monday afternoon.

Greencastle (1-1, 1-1 MPC) pounded out 16 hits and scored in 5 innings, including 2 each in the third, fourth and sixth innings.

Broadwater ended up with 3 RBIs, Sydney Orndorff was 3-for-4 with 2 runs batted in, while Bailee Martin-Irving, Adrianna Beeler and Amanda Grosh each went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Grosh doubled and Orndorff belted a triple.

Martin-Irving earned the pitching win, allowing 10 hits and 4 earned runs, with 8 strikeouts.

The Maidens are 1-1 (0-1 MPC).

Waynesboro 16, Greencastle-Antrim 5: The Indians used 11 hits, a bunch of walks and 3 Blue Devil errors to capture a Mid Penn Colonial victory over G-A on Monday afternoon.

Josh Clapsaddle did the most damage for ‘Boro (2-1, 2-0 MPC) with 3 hits and 6 RBIs. Bryce Shaffer collected 4 hits.

For the Blue Devils (2-1, 1-1 MPC), Aidan Gruszinski had a pair of hits and pitcher Logan Layton racked up 9 strikeouts.

Greencastle trailed only 6-3 before the Indians scored 6 runs in the fifth inning and tacked on 4 more in the seventh.
