Chambersburg roundup: Trojans blank Herd in volleyball

Chambersburg 3, Carlisle 0: The Trojans picked up a Mid Penn Commonwealth shutout win Thursday evening, blanking the Thundering Herd at CASHS Field House.

Chambersburg (2-1, 1-1 MPC) took the first two games with relative ease, 25-17 and 25-13, then held off a Carlisle comeback to win 27-25 in game 3.

The Trojans pounded down 28 kills, with the leaders being Riley Laite (7), Luke Pogue (6) and Kyle Ganoe and Camden Etter, with 5 each. Etter (3) and Ganoe (2) led in the blocking department.

Cole Myers had 5 of his team’s 9 aces, and service point leaders included Jackson Stahl (15), Myers (10) and Ganoe, Wyatt McMullen and Etter had 8 each. Stahl added 7 digs and Laite and Myers had 3 each.

Chambersburg coach Marta Helfrick said, “We served tough and kept them out of system for the majority of the match. We did a good job on offense and getting everybody involved.

“We were losing in game 3 and showed a lot of fight, heart and desire to overcome that and close out the match. Great team effort.”
