Southern Fulton opens season with two wins

After a historic season cut short last year, the Southern Fulton boys basketball team opened its 2021 campaign with two wins over conference rivals Everett and Tussey Mountain.

Saturday, Feb. 6. Southern Fulton 51, Everett 42

Southern Fulton defeated Everett 51 to 42 in a conference matchup Saturday afternoon.  Southern Fulton jumped out to a 13 to 3 lead but then went cold, watching the Warriors climb back in the game.  There were several lead changes in the 3rd and 4th periods and then, down 1,  a 3 pointer by Josh Morris gave the Indians a 44 to 42 lead they never relinquished.   The Indians (1-0, 1-0 ICC) were led by Josh Morris with 19 points, 5 assists, and 2 steals.  Konner Pittman had 18 points, 3 assists, and 3 steals.  Dane Harvey had 6 points, and 4 rebounds.  Zach Price had 4 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 blocks.  Kasey Fitz had 2 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals.  Luke Fitz added 2 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 blocks.

Everett was led by Josiah Seese with 24 points.

Southern Fulton had 29 rebounds compared to Everett’s 10, and Everett committed 19 turnovers opposed to Southern Fulton’s 9.

JV Result: Everett 32, Southern Fulton 22. Josh Morgan led the Indians with 11 points.

Monday, Feb. 8. Southern Fulton 62, Tussey Mountain 49

Southern Fulton defeated Tussey Mountain Monday night 62 to 49 in a conference matchup. The Indians (2-0, 2-0 ICC) trailed 16 to 15 at the end of the first, but used a 13 to 5 second period to take the lead and never trail again. SF was led by Josh Morris with 23 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals. Konnor Pittman had 11 points, 3 assists, and 3 steals. Dane Harvey had 10 points, and Zach Price added 6 points and 14 rebounds.

Tussey was led by Chad Morningstar with 20 points and 6 rebounds.

Southern Fulton out-rebounded Tussey Mountain 34-18, while the Indians and Titans were even with 9 turnovers each. SF will travel to Southern Huntingdon Tuesday evening for a ICC game.
