Greencastle-Antrim 37, Big Spring 33: The Blue Devils picked up a key road win Friday night, handing Big Spring its first loss of the season in a tight Mid Penn Colonial game.

Sayge Wilhide hit a clutch 3-pointer and a pair of free throws to halt a late Bulldog rally and Lauren Pool’s free throw made it a two-possession game.

Greencastle (6-1, 5-1 MPC) led 19-9 at halftime, but had to fend off Big Spring in the second half. The Devils’ early push was led by Haley Noblit, who ended up with 14 points and 7 rebounds and led G-A’s defensive pressure.

Wilhide had 9 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals, Mia Libby contributed 5 points, 5 boards and 4 assists, and Pool had 5 points and 4 rebounds.

For Big Spring (5-1), Laney Norieka scored 13 points.

Big Spring 58, Greencastle-Antrim 42: The Bulldogs reversed an earlier loss to the Blue Devils by jumping out to early leads of 11-0 and 15-2 and won the Mid Penn Colonial matchup Friday night.

“You get behind like that and you’re just constantly battling uphill,” G-A coach Rick Lewis said. “Hopefully, we’ll get back on track next week.”

Jake Knouse hit a trio of 3-pointers in the Bulldogs’ 11-0 start to the game, and Greencastle (5-4, 4-4 MPC) didn’t score until there was only 2:45 left in the quarter. Knouse scored 18 points and hit 13 threes in two games vs. G-A this year.

The Blue Devils were within 14 nearing the end of the third period, but Big Spring (7-4) scored 6 of the final 8 points, including two layups by Everett Baker (13 points). Matthew Ward led Big Spring with 20 points.

For Greencastle, Riley Gembe tallied 13 points and Zach Cole posted 12.
