Chambersburg roundup: Altoona hands Trojan girls 52-33 defeat

Altoona 52, Chambersburg 33: The Trojans’ offense disappeared in the second quarter, allowing Altoona to take a 23-12 lead by halftime, and the Mountain Lions claimed a Mid Penn Commonwealth victory Friday night at CASHS Field House.

Chambersburg (2-5, 2-4 MPC) was tied at 10-10 after period against Altoona, but managed only a basket by Marlee Wrights in the second period, while the Lions scored 13. After three, Altoona led by 12 points.

“In the first and third quarters, we played well, and the second and fourth quarters we struggled to score,” Trojan coach Justin English said. “Altoona was solid and balanced the whole game.”

For the Trojans, Erin Pattillo led with 8 points, while Madi Flythe, Ahsia Thomas and Kylee Miller each scored 4 points.

English said, “Pattillo continues to play great defense, with multiple steals again tonight, and she did a very good job defending the Cherry kid, too.”

Adaliz Corbin was a force for the Mountain Lions, putting in 23 points, and teammate Adalynn Cherry helped out with 14.
