Waynesboro defeats Hershey 3-0 in district quarterfinal

Waynesboro Maidens prepare for team introductions at home hosting the opening round of PIAA district tournament.

The Waynesboro Maidens hosted their opening round of the Pennsylvania Intercollegiate Athletic Association District 3 tournament play this evening.  The maidens were victorious 25-17, 25-15, 25-12 over the Hershey Trojans.

The Maidens were led by Sophia Johnson 12 kills, 8 digs, 3 blocks and an ace.  Grace Vaughn added 12 kills, 6 blocks; Leah Helman 16 digs, 8 assists and 3 kills; Emily Channing 22 assists, Slaydon Fisher 3 kills and 2 blocks.

Maidens head coach Kim Saunders commented “I thought we played really well this evening.  The girls were excited to earn the opportunity to host which hasn’t happened in quite sometime for Waynesboro Volleyball.  They ceased the occasion by playing sound volleyball.  Everyone contributed and most importantly carried out the game plan allowing for us to be successful.  I’m extremely proud of their performance and we’re excited to push onto the semis finals on Saturday at 3pm at home.”
