Maidens volleyball defeats Big Spring

The Waynesboro Maidens varsity volleyball team was victorious in straight sets against the visiting Big Spring Bulldogs, 25-14, 25-16, 25-13 Tuesday evening. Waynesboro coach Kim Saunders commented  “Coming off such a tremendous win and performance against the Blue Devils a night ago, tonight was definitely hard for the girls to settle into a rhythm.  We had good contributions from Brianna Gladfelter, Allison Sawicki and Mariah Burkholder.”

The Maidens were led by Sophia Johnson 12 kills and 4 digs; Gracie Vaughn 7 kills and 3 blocks; Leah Helman added 5 kills, Madi Boltz 6 aces and Emily Channing 28 assists.

The JV girls defeated the Big Spring Bulldogs in two sets with the scores of 25 – 13 and 25 – 8.  Kylie Long led the team at the service line with six aces along with Abby McElory and Kiera Mouer serving two apiece  Offensively, Jada Creager put down four kills for the team followed by Hannah Bittinger, Autumn Scahill, Maddy Stoops, Long, Warren, and McElory each getting one.  Savannah Brosius, Emma Swanson, Alexa Levick, Alaina Monk, and Jasmine Wiley did a nice job on defense for the Maidens.

The Maidens will host the West Perry Mustangs Friday evening, with a new JV start time of 5pm and varsity to follow at 6pm for Homecoming 2020!
