The Trojans: Chambersburg is coming off a 6-5 record last year, and its second straight District 3 6A playoff qualification, but lost 21 players to graduation … The Trojans return 4 starters on offense and 4 on defense … The team had a scrimmage vs. Hershey last Friday called off because of COVID concerns … The top players on defense should be linebackers Grant Hopple and Carter Sollenberger, and cornerbacks Jayden Jones and Kevin Lee … On offense, wide receivers Sam Vessah and Lee, running back Jones, linemen Chase Shaffer and Joey Fuller and quarterback Malaki Blair hope to lead the way … Kicker Tanner Luther should provide a strong kicking game.
The Rams: Central Dauphin was the PIAA 6A runner-up last season, and opens this year ranked as the No. 2 team in the state … While CD graduated plenty, it returns several key players, including RB-LB Timmy Smith, QB Max Mosey, WR-DN Malachi Bowman, OL-DL Blaise Heshler (6-5, 290), LB Paul Clark and RB-LB Dan Ficca … Mosey had a spectacular sophomore season last year, and Smith is a quality, hard-to-bring down back … The Rams got in a scrimmage last week vs. Middletown.
Coach’s viewpoint: Trojan coach Mark Luther said, “CD has established themselves as a contender every year, but they will have to replace a lot of guys. We’ll have to hope when the new guys make mistakes, we can capitalize on them. They only have four starters back on offense and defense, but with their tradition, they just replace great kids with other great kids.”

Media: The game will be live streamed on and
The Blue Devils: Greencastle is hoping to leave behind a 1-9 record in 2019 … With 7 starters back on offense and 8 on defense, plus several key additions, G-A believes it has a chance to do just that … On offense, QB Zach Cole, FB David Neibauer, WR Adam Root, OL Jake Kumfert (6-4, 295) and OL Blaine Ocker should play key roles … On defense, big man Landon Seaerles (6-5, 325), LB Taylor Conrad, CB Levi Bingaman and S Ethan Shank showed some strength last year … New on the scene are RB/CB Cameron Medina, RB Tavon Cooper and LB Bruce Lepore … Greencastle also has a strong kicker in Nathan Kirkwood … The Devils had a scrimmage vs. Lower Dauphin last week called off.
The Indians: Township put up a 7-4 record last year and are tabbed as one of the teams hoping to unseat Shippensburg as the Colonial champion … The Indians and Mechanicsburg are Colonial additions … The top players for ST include QB Donald Leach, RB/LB Mikey Reese, giant lineman Jamaal Minifield (6-6, 350), HB/LB Owen Wiener, OL/DL Kylee Page and RB/DB Bilal Wiedler … Susquehanna was able to scrimmage last week, playing Cumberland Valley.
Coach’s viewpoint: G-A coach Devin McCauley said, “We saw their scrimmage, but it’s hard to get much from that. But we have gone against them several times, and they always have big lineman, a lot of speedy kids and they are well-coached (by Joe Headen). They’ll be a handful.”
