HOLLAND — Luke Nichter ran into a tough customer, Andrew Cerniglia of Notre Dame Green Pond, for the second time this season, and was defeated for the second time.

In the final at 160 pounds of the Escape the Rock Tournament on Sunday at Council Rock South H.S., Cerniglia rolled to a big early lead and handed Nichter a 14-2 major decision. He had pinned Nichter in the semifinals of the Beast of the East in December.

Cerniglia scored an early takedown and produced two three-point nearfalls to lead 8-0 after one period. A takedown and another nearfall made it 13-0 after two.

In the third, Cerniglia (22-1) escaped, and Nichter (26-4) earned a takedown with about 35 seconds left.

The only other Chambersburg wrestlers in action Sunday, Karl Shindledecker (120) and Wyatt Hull (220), were defeated in the first round of consolations of the day and were eliminated one win short of a medal.
