G-A roundup 1/11: Pair of Blue Devils are unbeaten in tournament

Greencastle competes in A-C Tournament: The Blue Devils competed in the Annville-Cleona Duals Tournament on Saturday, and while the team went 0-5 for the day, several Blue Devils produced successful days.

Lorcan Wright wrestled at 126 pounds and was 5-0, as was Adam Booze at 152.

G-A coach Brian Booze said, “Lorcan wrestled very well, with solid performances from all positions. Adam had five ‘grind-it-out’ kind of matches. He seems to getting into a rhythm.”

Another pair posted 4-1 records — Garrett Keener at 120 and Wesley Shubert at 138.

Booze said, “Wesley was our pleasant surprise of the tournament. He had a come-from-behind pin and a full-length bout in which match strategy came into play. Garrett’s only loss was to (A-C’s) Matt Inman, a 100-win senior who has multiple regional places.”

Greencastle was defeated by A-C (51-21), Middletown (54-21), CD East (52-18), West York (36-30) and Kennard-Dale (48-27). G-A’s top wrestler, Jared Miller, did not compete due to injury.

“I’m excited for this small group of boys,” Booze said. “They are working hard and it’s starting to show. Jack Sullivan picked up another win in his rookie season, and more wins are sure to come as they keep working hard.”
