Greencastle wrestlers go 1-2 in duals tournament

CHAMBERSBURG — The Greencastle-Antrim wrestling team opened its season Saturday at the Chambersburg Duals Tournament and picked up a victory in kind of a strange way.

After a 60-22 defeat at the hands of Big Spring, the Blue Devils (1-2) took on Frazier, and the teams did not match up well in terms of which weights each team had wrestlers available.

Frazier ended up winning six bouts by forfeit, and Greencastle picked up five forfeit wins.

That meant only three bouts were actually wrestled. At 152, G-A’s Jared Miller scored a pin in 2:35, and Adam Booze followed at 160 with a pin in 3:15, then Carlos Luna was pinned at 182.

That meant the match ended in a 42-42 tie. Greencastle was declared the winner by the criteria of most wins in the bouts contested.

In the Big Spring match, the Blue Devils had four wrestlers pick up wins — Garrett Keener (pin at 126), Lorcan Wright (13-2 major decision at 132), Miller (pin at 152) and Booze (pin at 160).

Greencastle’s final match of the day was against Chambersburg, and the Trojans registered an 81–0 shutout win.
